The French Bulldog was originally bred in England as a miniature version of the English Bulldog for use as a "lap" pet.
The French Bulldog is a very sturdy, muscular little Bulldog with large rounded ears and a flat powerful muzzle and a pug nose.
The French Bulldog is a very good, pleasing companion that makes a great family pet. They are very playful and affectionate, sweet and funny with a comical personality.
Frenchies, as they are also called, need very little grooming due to their short coat, but regular bathing and brushing is recommended. French Bulldogs are also very sensitive to extreme temperatures and prefer cooler climates.
Native food sources for the French Bulldog would have been from areas in England and in Central France which were very similar. The main crops would have been sugar beets, wheat, oats and barley. The meat sources would have been from beef and dairy cattle.
The recommended foods would contain beef or a beef blend, oats, wheat, and beet pulp. Foods containing white rice, avocado, or any soy based products should be avoided for the French Bulldog.*
As for the French Bulldog and most breeds of dogs it is highly recommended that a quality dog vitamin supplement be added as a regular part of their daily nutrition as dog foods alone cannot provide all of the vitamins, minerals and nutrition that your beloved French Bulldog needs. A quality dog vitamin will aid in maintaining a healthy dog and thereby increasing their quality of life and longevity.
